The Egyptian Women’s Museum

EGYPT’S HISTORY IS MONUMENTAL — BUT INCOMPLET

The Egyptian Women’s Museum institutionalizes the documentation of women’s contributions across politics, science, arts, culture, and economic life. It ensures that future generations inherit a history that reflects the full architecture of Egyptian society.

This is not a niche museum, it is cultural infrastructure.

A MUSEUM DESIGNED FOR THE FUTURE

An immersive, technology-driven cultural experience built for youth and international audiences through augmented reality overlays, virtual reality historical reconstructions and holographic storytelling.

Technology is used as an educational accelerator — not as a prospect.

WHAT THE MUSEUM SHOWCASES

Spanning historical eras with emphasis on contemporary relevance, the Museum documents contributions of iconic women from Egypt’s modern history including:

  • Queens, leaders & public figures
  • Scientists & academics
  • Designers & visual artists
  • Athletes & performing artists

Moreover, the Museum documents contributions by men, organizations and allies who contributed significantly to women empowerment and gender equality.
The narrative is influence-driven, not ornamental.

PROJECT TIMELINE

During Womenovation’s launch in March 2023, the first concept for the Egyptian Women’s Museum was presented, highlighting the project’s potential to advance women’s empowerment, strengthen gender-equality culture, and enhance Egypt’s international cultural tourism positioning.

A key advocate for the project was H.E. Dr. Maya Morsy, then President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), who championed Womenovation’s initiative and successfully elevated its visibility among media, government officials, and policymakers.

MARCH 2024

During the annual celebrations of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi publicly assigned the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Council for Women to proceed with establishing the Egyptian Women’s Museum.
